Schubert String Quartet in B flat major D.112
Two short works by the winner of the National Centre for Early Music’s 2022 Young Composer Award
The Consone Quartet is the first period instrument string quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists. In association with Radio 3 and the Young Composers Award, held annually at the National Centre for Early Music in York, the quartet will perform short works by the two competition winners, alongside one of Mozart’s “Prussian Quartets”. Dedicated to the King of Prussia, who was a talented cellist, these quartets feature prominent and virtuosic cello parts. The programme will close with a rarely performed early quartet by Schubert, which he played in the family home, alongside his father and brothers.
