‘Marian Music for the Milan Duomo’
works by Gaspar van Weerbeke, Matthias Werrecore, Franchinus Gaffurius & Josquin des Prez
Siglo de Oro is one of the leading young professional choirs of its generation, known for its innovative programming and musical excellence. Tonight’s programme is centred around Matthias Werrecore, a 16th-century Flemish composer who was maestro di cappella at Milan Cathedral from 1522-50. Remarkably, only one of his works, La Bataglia Taliana, has received occasional performances in modern times.
