Something borrowed, something blue

Composers throughout time have borrowed, stolen and reworked musical ideas or melodies from other sources. In tonight’s concert, a melancholy French air is followed by four pieces, each of which ‘borrows’ from other familiar works.

Prelude: An Old French Air
Quadro ‘O Haupt voll Blut und Wunder’ Johann Janitsch
Lachrimae Pavan from t’Uitnement Kabinett Johann Schop
Fantasia sopra Jesu meines Lebens Leben Anon
Quartet in G minor HWV404 Handel
