Matthew Wadsworth – lute & theorbo
music by Dowland, Johnson, Piccinini, Kapsberger & Stephen Goss
The trajectory of Matthew Wadsworth’s career has been remarkable; born blind, he took up the guitar aged six at a school for the visually impaired in Manchester, later moving on to Chetham’s and then to the Royal Academy of Music, where he switched from the guitar to the lute and theorbo. He developed his own system of Braille tablature for the lute and is now an established lutenist/theorbo player on the early music scene.
