Splendours from the Doge’s Chapel
This programme to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Giovanni Gabrieli, the greatest composer of the Venetian high renaissance, will include double and triple-choir ceremonial music, and sacred motets from his two Sacrae Symphoniae publications of 1587 and 1615, and instrumental music by the Venetian master, as well as music by Hans Leo Hassler, who also died in 1612.
