A musical exploration of Marian devotion
A selection of sumptuous settings of the beautiful and erotic texts found in the biblical book The Song of Songs, and their connection to Marian worship in the sixteenth century. Love and seduction are explored in a rich selection of continental music by composers including Palestrina, Gombert, Ceballos, Guerrero and Victoria.
