Mark Deller – Conductor
In 1692, following the enormous success of Dido & Aeneas and particularly of King Arthur, Purcell produced two of his great masterpieces in the same year – the famous Ode on St Cecilia’s Day Hail! Bright Cecilia being one of them. To round off Stour Music’s celebration of the 350th anniversary of Purcell’s birth, the Festival Choir is joined by a group of Purcell specialists as soloists, for a performance of the other masterpiece from that year, The Fairy Queen.
