The Rise of the North Italian Violin Concerto
Formed in 1994, La Serenissima has devoted much of its time to exploring the world of Antonio Vivaldi. In this large scale programme, employing oboes, bassoon, horns, timpani and theorbo, as well as strings, they look at the effect Vivaldiās concerto style had on his younger contemporaries. There are also festive works by Vivaldi which use lavish scoring, including an arrangement of his famous violin concerto La Tempesta di Mare.
