This programme features outstanding examples of works by some of the greatest composers of the 18th Century. The 5-movement Telemann contrasts energetic fast movements with tender, pizzicato-accompanied slow ones; the Bach Triple gives each soloist a chance to shine, and the rarely performed Vivaldi provides exciting opportunities for pyrotechnic display. Handel’s ‘Sweet Bird’ and Bach’s secular Italian cantata provide the perfect vehicle for the artistry of Emma Kirkby and Rachel Brown.
